Ear Infections: Anneliese 2, Ethan 0

Well, at least we know why Anneliese is waking us up every two hours or more at night lately. Apparently she either never got over her first ear infection or she got a new one shortly thereafter. So, we're getting a different oral antibiotic this time and hope for uninterrupted sleep again soon.

First time to Los Angles Zoo

Liz suggested the family get out of the house so we went to the Los Angeles Zoo. Weather was great, people were rude...pretty much the status quo. We didn't get to see any elephants due to the ongoing controversy regarding the new enclosure being built. Here's a video but note that much of it is animals (shocking, I know) with a few shots of the kids interspersed.

Velcro Shoes...with Lights!

Ethan requested some shoes without laces so he and mommy went shopping today and this is what they came home with. When I was a kid, Nike shoes with velcro came in one model: blue with white. On a related note, while shoe shopping for Daddy, Ethan remarked as he pointed to some loafers with tassels, "Look! Pépère shoes!"

Morning Sendoff Warning

For some time now when I leave the house to go to work, Ethan has been very energetic in warning me about monsters that are going to scratch the car, smash the car, or pop the tires with their spikes and "really sharp claws". It used to always be The Bumper Monster (made up by him) that he'd announce was suddenly chasing the minivan but the morning monster usually changes name.

Ethan's First Savings Goal

Well, the day Daddy and Ethan saw a yellow Lamborghini drive by apparently has stuck with him. He said we should get one. We explained that only two people could ride in one to which he responded "we could get two". The other day at dinner he said, "A Lamborghini costs half a million dollars. I'm going to save all my money in both my bunny rabbit and my elephant bank."

What the kids are up to

Well, we're still waiting on Anneliese to start crawling. I've seen her shove herself backwards and do a Superman impersonation with arms and legs floating in the air while she's on her belly. For a while she's been saying "Dada", growls (learned that from Ethan), and long sighs (often following each bite of food if she likes it). Liz taught her to clap and say "yeah" which they do at Stroller Strides.

Ethan has been very into his space shuttle and plastic food that came with his kitchen. After just a few times with his ClickStart computer his mouse and keyboard skills have already improved a lot. He's become quite the sore loser with games which at this age are 100% luck with the exception of Memory. He continues to be very into dinosaurs and keeps learning from the various books and flashcards. He's able to repeat all the names including tongue twisters such as Parasaurolophus, Pachycephalosaurus and Struthiomimus.

Another funny thing has started since he and I had a discussion about where coconuts come from. I mentioned Hawaii and now not a day goes by that he doesn't tell us some story about how when he was in Hawaii, (fill in the blank).
